‘Dattatreya’ Dan

As a Yoga aspirant for the past 7 years,  Dan ‘Dattatreya’ Andronescu, has been practicing, studying and cultivating the science and philosophy of Hatha Yoga, Samkhya, Vedanta as well as the teachings of Buddha. Leaving his Materials engineering job behind, for the past 2 years, with increased determination and will power, passion and devotion; and through his direct perception and experience of the universality of these eastern science and philosophies, he has devoted his energy to Self-study and to service of community and the greater good.

Through the traditional gurukula system at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta International School, he was ceremonially initiated as ‘Dattatreya’ in the Saraswati lineage of Yoga and Advaita Vedanta.  And through the Grace of God, the title of Yoga Siromani was awarded to him upon completing the Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in 2017.  Since his YTT, he has been studying and been engaged in yoga sadhana through the International Sivananda Ashrams and centers in Thailand, India, Vietnam, Canada and the U.S.; and studied the teachings of Buddha through Thich Nhat Han’s Thai Plum-Village Monastery and  the S.N. Goenka Vippasana International organizations.

‘Dattatreya’ has studied under, and recognizes Axel Molema, Prahladaji, Swami Jenardananda Saraswati, Swami Hariomananda Saraswati, Gurudev Sivananda Saraswati, Swami Vishnudevananda Saraswati, Thich Nhat Hanh, S.N. Goenka and Seth Powel as his teachers.

He is currently engaged in further studies of the History of Hatha Yoga, the Yogasustras of Patanjali, and basic Sanskrit language through the Yogicstudies programs established by the Harvard scholar and East Asian Study lecturer, Seth Powel.

While continuously seeking expansion of Self-awareness and when the organic calling is there, he finds peace in his favourite past times of skiing, camping and hiking, dancing, chanting and studying plant medicine, as well as developing fungal bio-materials and structures at Ryerson Univeristy’s, Science Design Zone and start-up incubator.

Along the team at Elemental, ‘Dattatreya’ Dan’s energy and desire to serve, was entrusted to craft, lead, ,maintain and oversee the 5 pillars of the Mission and Vision of ELEMENTAL YOGA – TRUTH, PEACE, LOVE, WISDOM and UNITY

“For the longest time, most of my life really, i struggled with identifying mySelf.

Always aimlessly exploring, trying to figure out what is my passion, where should i focus my energy, what career should i root in, where is home, who are my friends and community…who AM I? really…

Many, many revolutions around the Sun, picking up bits and pieces of Self-awareness …from ‘past’ life to this very life… through ‘being’ romanian to ‘being’ canadian, from ski racing to building race cars, from summiting mountains to canoeing lakes and rivers, from studying Nano-materials Engineering to ancient eastern philosophies….through the abyss of depression and through the peaks of euphoria, through extreme solitude and through monk brotherhood, through extreme discipline and through flow state, diet experiments and fasting, from being abused to celibacy, from abusing drugs to respecting plant medicine, from atheist to non-dualist…you get the point..these polarities went and will go on and on …

it was, and now IS, in the middle ground that i came to understand that I AM all of that and all of this…

that all those events expanded the Self-awareness that i can JUST BE, and could just reside in the truth that is, I AM

….this frequency and wisdom of I AM, when one gets to have a ‘glimpse’ of IT, for even one nano-second… the experience of INFINITE PRESENCE, rushes through all that IS…

it IS in the here and the NOW, that a paradigm shift takes place…

the realization that ‘we’ are all Liberated to begin with….

the understanding of the truth of ONEness …

the understanding that ignorance of this Truth, is the root of all suffering

the understanding of cause and effect, and that we can choose in what state we want to reside in

One nano-second of TRUTH is enough…

One glimpse was enough To shift all ‘my’ energy and to now continuously attempt to cultivate this awareness and wisdom at all times…and for the remainder of this life, to cultivate this middle ground… loving kindness, happiness, and peace, by embracing and understanding the impermanence of ‘darkness’ and ‘light’,…through continuous daily practices,Self-inquiry, rituals and selfless service as well trust in, and devotion to the universal consciousness that is God.

It is from this very space, through this extended opportunity and challenge at Elemental, through the blessing and responsibility of Yoga Program Director, teacher and host, that i attempt to hold space for other, to serve other and to help other cultivate Self-awareness and daily-practices, in an organic, loving, peaceful and truthful way.

With Love and Light, i welcome and receive you all, to learn and to teach, to embrace and to give, all the Truth and Love, that IS”
